A medical company in Shropshire which has more than doubled in size over the past year has won a major industry award for its work supporting the NHS.
Physiological Measurements Ltd (PML), based in Oswestry, works with 34 Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) across the UK carrying out medical tests in GP surgeries and health centres to get faster results for patients.
Bosses are celebrating after winning the Outstanding Achievement Award at the Medilink WM awards ceremony – which means they will now go on to represent the West Midlands region at the national finals later in the year.
Judges were impressed by PML’s development, which has seen the number of CCGs the company works with grow from six to 34 nationwide over the last 18 months.
PML has seen as overall growth of 58 per cent in the past year and now processes nearly 3,000 patient appointments and results every month.
The company employs 24 members of staff at its Oswestry headquarters and many more at its clinics across the UK.
Jon Pither, director of PML, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won this award, which is testament to the hard work of our staff both here in Shropshire and at our clinics across the country.
“We work in partnership with Clinical Commissioning Groups, GP surgeries and NHS Trusts so patients have access to first-class diagnostic services without having to wait for a hospital appointment.
“That eases the pressure on the NHS and delivers a better service for patients in terms of the convenience of the appointment and being less distance to travel.
“We are passionate about the work we do to support the NHS and it’s great to be recognised alongside some excellent businesses from across the West Midlands.
“We now work with CCGs from as far north as Newcastle right down to Dover, and we also deliver an echocardiography service locally for Shropshire CCG with regular clinics being held in Oswestry and Shrewsbury.”
The annual Medilink WM awards ceremony, which took place in Birmingham on January 8, is the premier event in the region’s healthcare technology calendar, bringing together leading business representatives, clinicians and researchers from across the sector.
